Near the Sabino Canyon Visitors Center is a wide trail heading east that takes you to the Esperero Trail. We walked that trail yesterday on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. There were very few people and an abundance of wildlife. We saw several deer, a bull snake, rabbit, and many birds. Some of the birds included and American Kestrel, Cedar Waxwings, Red-tailed Hawk, Lesser Goldfinch, American Robin, Western Bluebirds, and a Roadrunner to name a few.

We were out at Sabino Canyon recently and were able to see a waterfall at the last tram stop. The Sabino Canyon stream was flowing swift and high over all bridges. The tram was able go over each. While walking and hiking were limited because of water flows, it did provide some rare sites for those riding on the tram, like this incredible waterfall.
Some of our favorite trails in Tucson’s Catalina Mountains include Seven Falls, Sabino Canyon, Finger Rock Trail, Pima Canyon Trail, and Ventana Trail. There are links to each on DiscoverTucson.org.
Bring plenty of water, and always tell someone when you are going and to where. Have fun!
It is so hot today in Tucson that even the cactus are having a cold beer.
A couple ways for the family to cool of is the 143-foot waterslide at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador. Though, if you are on a tight budget pack a lunch, and your swim suits, and head over to Sabino Canyon and take a dip in the cool canyon waters.
Bring plenty of water on these hot summer days.
